Newsletter on the start of the 2025/26/1 semester – activating your semester and registering for subjects

Please note that from 22 July 2025, the Central Academic Office (CAO) will continue its activities under the name Academic Services Centre (ASC). Until this change is implemented, CAO will be referred to as ASC in all documents and regulations.

To help you organize your tasks at the start of the semester, we have compiled the most important information on activating your semester and registering for subjects.

For the students of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences: You can only register for an active semester in Neptun following the successful completion of the '700_BME GTK Work and Fire Safety Training' request in Neptun (Administration/Requests – Available request forms). If you encounter any problems, please email iso@gtk.bme.hu.

The period of continuous passive status cannot be longer than two semesters. The Faculty Study Committee can grant permission for the extension of the allowed number of passive semesters, but only in justified cases. This needs to be requested in Neptun via the '036B Request for increasing the allowed number of passive terms'.

A student’s legal status will be terminated if they fail to get permission for a third passive semester or does not set the status of the 2025/26/1 semester active.

PREFERENTIAL AND PRELIMINARY PERIODS of registering for subjects and COURSEs

PRELIMINARY SUBJECT AND COURSE registration period - EVERY STUDENT

From 27.08.2025, 18:00 (Hungarian time) to 31.08.2025,11:59 (Hungarian time).

If you have a problem with the registration of a subject or course, you can submit the ’018 Request to register for subjects / to drop subjects request’.

PREFERENTIAL SUBJECT AND COURSE registration period - Exceptional cases

1. on 27.08.2025 from 12:00 to 15:00 (Hungarian time)

The following group of students are eligible for this preferential subject and course registration: 

Faculty of Civil Engineering

Faculty of Architecture

For BSc and MSc students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.80 after the 2024/25/2 semester.

For BSc and integrated MSc with a GPA of at least 3.70 of cumulated GPA after the 2024/25/2 semester

 

2. on 27.08.2025 from 16:00 to 17:00 (Hungarian time)

For students who have completed the 2024/25/2 semester and filled out the ‘OMHV Általános kérdőív’ for all subjects in Neptun.

 

Eligible students will be informed about the preferential subject registration in Neptun by 27.08.2025.

STUDENT STATUS CERTIFICATE, VALIDATION OF STUDENT ID

Student status certificates for the 2025/26/1 semester can be requested from 08.09.2025, provided that you have registered your student status for the semester and – if you are a freshman – enrolled. You can request a certificate in person during office hours at the ASC (formerly CAO) or online via the ’027 Request for a certificate’ form in Neptun.

Stickers for student ID cards for the 2025/26/1 semester will be available from 8 September 2025 during office hours at the  formerly ASC (formerly CAO). Please note, that stickers of the 2024/25/2 semester are valid until 31 October 2025.

If you have requested a new student ID card, you will receive email updates about the progress of your application.
