As previously reported, unauthorised access to the BME Neptun system and distribution of unsolicited messages took place on 27.04.2023 and 28.04.2023.

The necessary measures have been taken to remedy the incident. Based on the investigation, the unauthorised activity may have been limited to sending messages but it cannot be excluded that the attacker had access to the name, Neptun code and email details of the message recipients.

• do not share passwords to access into the Neptun system,
• never enter Neptun passwords into any other website than the one at bme.hu even if it is very similar to the real BME site,
• change password.

BME as the data controller has reported the incident to the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
