To help you organize your tasks at the start of the semester, we have compiled the most important information on activating your semester and registering for subjects.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2025/26/2 TERM

from 15.11.2025 to 12.02.2026, 11:59 (Hungarian time)

For the students of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences: You can only register for an active semester in Neptun following the successful completion of the '700_BME GTK Work and Fire Safety Training' request in Neptun (Administration/Requests – Available request forms). If you encounter any problems, please email iso@gtk.bme.hu.

The period of continuous passive status cannot be longer than two semesters. The Faculty Study Committee can grant permission for the extension of the allowed number of passive semesters, but only in justified cases. This needs to be requested in Neptun via the '036B Request for increasing the allowed number of passive terms'.

A student’s legal status will be terminated if they fail to get permission for a third passive semester or does not set the status of the 2025/26/2 semester active.

Passive semester

 After the registration period (12.02.2026), student’s status will be changed centrally to 'passive' in the following cases:

  • failed to change their status to ‘active’ before the mentioned deadline
  • overdue debt
  • missing study contract (tuition fee paying students)
  • in cases specified in Section 57 (8) of CoS, if there is no valid course/subject registration

  

PREFERENTIAL AND PRELIMINARY PERIODS of registering for subjects and COURSEs

PREFERENTIAL SUBJECT AND COURSE registration period - Exceptional cases

1. on 05.02.2026, 12:00 and 15:00 (Hungarian time)

The following group of students are eligible for this preferential subject and course registration:  

Faculty of Civil Engineering

Faculty of Architecture

for BSc and MSc students having at least 3,80 of cummulated grade point average after the 2025/26/1 term

for MSc and integrated MSc students having at least 3,70 of cummulated grade point average after the 2025/26/1 term

 

2. on 05.02.2026, 16:00 and 17:00 (Hungarian time)

For students who have completed the 2025/26/1 semester and filled out the ‘OMHV Általános kérdőív’ for all subjects in Neptun. 

Eligible students will be informed about the preferential subject registration in Neptun by 05.02.2026.

STUDENT STATUS CERTIFICATE, VALIDATION OF STUDENT ID

  • Student status certificates for the 2025/26/2 semester can be requested from 16.02.2026, provided that you have registered your student status for the semester and – if you are a freshman – enrolled. You can request a certificate in person during office hours at the ASC or online via the ’027 Request for a certificate’ form in Neptun.
  • Stickers for student ID cards for the 2025/26/2 semester will be available from 16.02.2026 during office hours at the ASC. Please note, that stickers of the 2025/26/1 semester are valid until 31 March 2026.
  • If you have requested a new student ID card, you will receive email updates about the progress of your application.
  • The certificate issued until the student card is manufactured (temporary student card) can be requested in Neptun after the request for a permanent card "066 Request for student card certificate" is submitted. The completed certificate can be picked up in person at the Academic Services Centre (Building R, main hall, the item of the customer terminal "Issue and validation of Student ID").
