Assessment of study results and dismissals
On 02.07.2025, the ASC (CAO) will determine the results of the semester and the cumulative study results. Students affected by the dismissal for academic reasons will receive an Official Note in Neptun with a Resolution attached (NEPTUN Studies ➥ Official notes). Appeals can only be made as described in the Official Note and the Resolution.
Students will still have access to NEPTUN after their dismissal!
Dismissal for academic reasons
Based on the study results on 02.07.2025, BME dismisses students for the following reasons:
- exceeding twice the training time specified in the training and exit requirements
- failing to acquire the credit points of a subject after the sixth registration in the same training program
- failing to reach the cumulated grade point average of
- 2.25 in BSc or Integrated MSc training programs
- 2.50 in MSc training programs at the end of the fourth active semester
- failing to obtain at least 20 credits in the last three active semesters
- or failing to obtain at least 10 credits in the first three active semesters since enrollment in a re-admitted training program
The date of dismissal and the end date of the student status will be the last day of the exam period (30 June 2025)
Students under dismissal have 15 days after receiving the decision to submit the ’015 Appeal against dismissal for academic reasons’ Neptun request as a legal remedy. Only in justified cases can the Student Appeal Panel and the Faculty Study Committee grant a waiver of dismissal.

Dismissal upon request
If you wish to terminate your student status at BME, you can submit the ’032 Dismissal upon request’ form in Neptun at any time.
The end date of your student status will be the date on which you submitted the request. Please settle your financial debts towards the University before submitting a dismissal request.
You can request a Registry book excerpt of your completed subjects at BME via the ’027 Request for a certificate’ form in Neptun.
Please note, that your student status has to be continuous in time transferring to another BME training program or another Hungarian University, otherwise the transfer request can be rejected by the University. Because of this rule, please don’t request dismissal in your previous training program. The ASC (CAO) will manage the closure of your previous training program.
TERMINATING SCHOLARSHIP STATUS (RECLASSIFICATION)
Termination of your scholarship status will not result in the termination of your student status. You will be automatically reclassified as a tuition fee-paying student.
If you reclassify as a fee-paying student, you must sign and submit 2 copies of the study contract by 04.09.2025 at the ASC (CAO), during opening hours; otherwise, you will not be allowed to activate your status.
For students paying a tuition fee, it will be inflicted once the active status has been set. The payment deadline is typically 15.10.2025. BME’s website details the amount of each tuition fee component.

You can request a tuition fee reduction via the '010 Request for Tuition Fee Reduction' form in Neptun. Please refer to the dean's instructions for information on the criteria used to assess tuition fee reduction requests and the faculty's procedures. Failure to comply with the above information is the student's responsibility and cannot form the basis of an appeal or remedy.
Reasons for TERMINATING the SCHOLARSHIP STATUS
A student's scholarship status can be terminated because of the following reasons:
1. based on their study results (the 36-credit rule)
According to the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme Operational Regulations (Section III.3.3 for TPF/ III.11.2. for HH) of Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency, scholarship holders have to fulfil minimum 36 credits in an academic year (Fall and Spring term together, if the student status is active in those terms), otherwise the scholarship status will be ceased and will be automatically reclassified into a tuition fee-paying student status.
Credits obtained through a credit accreditation process are not included in the minimum 36 credit requirement.
The scholarship holder can appeal against the decision by submitting the „016 Appeal against reclassification decision” request in Neptun. The student has 15 days from the decision to submit the request. If the Faculty Study Committee supports the request, the University forwards it to the Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency for the final decision.
2. based on the expiration of the scholarship agreement
3. by the dismissal of student status
4. by obtaining the Leaving Certificate (absolutory),
5. based on the student’s self-written request to the Tempus Public Foundation via email
6. by obtaining Hungarian citizenship
7. by failing the requirements stated in the Letter of Award
