Dear Students,

To help you with the final exam tasks, we have summarised the most important information about the final exam. The Central Academic Office (CAO) does not have information on how departments will carry out the actual exams, so PLEASE contact them for specific information!

1. DECLARATION OF INTENT

If you intend to take the final exam in the 2024/25/2 semester, you must register for the final exam period in Neptun by following the steps below.

1.1. Registration for the Final Exam

Only students who, based on a preliminary curriculum check, are likely to receive a final certificate at the end of their courses for the spring semester can apply for the final examination period.

You can see all the exam periods related to your program. You must select the period related to your specialization or the department in which you want to take the final exam.

Once you have selected the final exam period, click on the "+" sign at the end of the line. Select the "Register/Change Registration" option, scroll down the pop-up window and select "Save" to complete your registration.

If you do not meet the requirement, you will receive the error message „Only final semester students are allowed to apply. Please contact your coordinator".

Registration periods for the Faculty final exams for the 2024/25/2 semester

1.2. WITHDRAWAL FROM THE CHOSEN FINAL exam PERIOD

Your Faculty has the right to allow you to withdraw from the final exam period you have already chosen.

If withdrawal is allowed, click on the "+" sign at the end of the final exam period line and select Cancel Application. If withdrawal is not allowed, the Cancel Application button will be light grey.

If you have a serious reason for withdrawing from the final exam and the Faculty does not allow withdrawal, or the withdrawal period has expired, please contact the Faculty for advice.

1.3. REGISTRATION FOR THE FINAL EXAM ALSO AT THE DEPARTMENT

In addition to registering for your final exam in Neptun, departments may require that you notify them of your intention to take the final exam in some other way. Please contact your department in advance for details.

2. Check your results in Neptun

At the end of the 2024/25/2 semester, please check that all your results are correctly entered in Neptun. If there is anything wrong or missing, please contact the relevant department to correct the error. If you have an uncompleted subject that you do not need and do not want to complete, please inform your coordinator at the Central Academic Office.

It is also recommended to verify completion of mandatory 0-credit curriculum requirements like Internship, etc.

Once you have completed all the subjects required for the final exam, your status will become "Absolute" (Abszolvált), which means that your student status with the University will end at the end of the semester on 15.07.2025.

Important information about becoming "Absolute" for Scholarship holders!

Once all the study and examination requirements specified in the curriculum have been fulfilled, the examination for the "Absolute" (Abszolvált) status takes place. Due to the large number of final examiners, the complexity of the task and the time required, the Central Academic Office conducts this examination in the order of the final exam dates.

According to Section 149 (2) of the BME Code of Studies, a student may be admitted to the final examination if the requirements for the degree have been fulfilled at the latest three working days before the final examination.

3. Check your personal information in Neptun

Please review your personal details under My Data ➥ Personal information, Previous qualifications and Contact information. If you find anything incorrect or missing, please correct it, or if you are unable to do so, please request a change in person by providing a document with the correct information.

It is important that your contact information (phone number, e-mail) is up to date. Please check your Neptun and e-mail messages regularly.

4. Check your outstanding debts in Neptun

To check if you have any outstanding debts, please select Finances ➥ Payment/All terms and All status and then click on List. If you have any debts, please pay them as soon as possible, as the BME regulations do not allow you to take the final exam if you have debts.

In addition, according to the BME regulations, a student will not be allowed to take the final examination if he/she has not returned any property belonging to the University that he/she has taken over for his/her own use (e.g. a library book).

You can pay online by debit or credit card.

5. Student card

If you obtain your "Absolute" (Abszolvált) status by the end of the 2024/25/2 semester, and therefore terminate your student status with BME, your student card will remain valid until 31.10.2025. After that it will be automatically revoked, you do not need to return your card.

6. apply for MsC programs at any higher education institution

For students who have passed the final exam in the 2024/25/2 semester, the University will issue a Provisional Diploma Certificate, which can be presented as an official qualification certificate during the admission procedure.

Eligible students can apply for the Provisional Diploma Certificate via 027 request or in person and it can only be issued once.

7. DATes of the Final Exam Period and termination of the student status

The final exam period of the 2024/25/2 semester at each Faculty is

from 16.06.2025 - to 04.07.2025.

If a student obtains the status of "Absolute" (Abszolvált) in the 2024/25/2 semester, his/her student status at the university ends on 15.07.2025.

Students have 2 years to take the Final exam after obtaining the status of "Absolute" (Abszolvált). The Final exam can be taken later only with the permission of the Faculty. The final exam can no longer be taken after the fifth year of the termination of the student status.

8. Date, time and place of your Final Exam, attending or absence from the exam

The department organizing the final exam will inform you of the exact date, time and procedure.

According to Section 151 (4) of the BME Code of Studies, if you are absent from your final examination, you have 8 days to justify your absence to the organising department.

9. Who to contact and how

Information about the final exam procedure can be obtained from the department organizing the final examination. The contact details of the department can be found on the faculty pages.

If you have any further questions and would like to contact your coordinator at the Central Academic Office, you can find their name in Neptun ➥ Studies ➥ Education Data ➥ Administrator and you can check their contact details on the CAO website.

10. Receiving the Diploma

Successful completion of the final exam is required to receive the diploma. The official deadline for awarding the diploma is the 30^th day after the successful completion of the final exam.

You will be given further information later on how you can have your diploma and how you can request copies of your documents (hard copy or digital).
