Information for scholarship holders about request for extension of the scholarship period and request for changing institution and/or training programme and/or language for scholarship holders.

Dear Student,

if you wish to submit a request in one of the above-mentioned subjects, please read the information below first.

  • You are in your last term covered by the scholarship.
  • You can get extension two times altogether.
  • You are not allowed to extend your scholarship period on doctoral, foundation, preparatory, postgraduate specialist training courses and partial courses, furthermore for short intensive courses.

We would like to draw your attention for the followings:

  • You will not receive a scholarship, housing allowance or in the SCYP programme the travel allowance during the extended term(s).
    • For students who taking part in the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme or in the Hungarian Diaspora scholarship programme, the provision shall first be applied to students starting their studies in the 2020/21 academic year in an ascending order.
    • For students who taking part in the scholarship programme for Christian Young People, the provision shall first be applied to students starting their studies in the 2022/23 academic year in an ascending order.
  • The permission for extension does not overwrite the minimum credit requirement (36 credit rule) written in the Operational Regulations of the scholarship programme (III.3. Further Obligations of the Scholarship Holders).
  • The permission for extension does not overwrite the status of absolutorium.
  • It is recommended to inform the Sending Partner in advance.
  • The accepted E009 request does not mean that you will get extension automatically. BME will send the accepted requests to the Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency and they will make the final decision.

Steps of the procedure:

  1. You submit the E009 request.
  2. Your E009 request is evaluated by the faculty. (It can take a few days/weeks.)
  3. If your E009 request is accepted by the faculty, you can download the approval document (Declaration) of BME from the attachment of your E009 request.

  5. Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency evaluates the requests. (It can take a few days/weeks.)
  6. If Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency also accepts your request, they send you the decision on extension. (Expected at the beginning of July, 2024.)
