Assessment of study results and dismissals

On 08.07.2026, the ASC will determine the results of the semester and the cumulative study results. Students affected by the dismissal for academic reasons will receive an Official Note in Neptun with a Resolution attached (NEPTUN Menu ➥ Studies ➥ Advancement ➥ Registry record ➥ Official notes). Appeals can only be made as described in the Official Note and the Resolution.

Students will still have access to NEPTUN after their dismissal!

Dismissal for academic reasons

Based on the study results on 03.07.2026, BME dismisses students for the following reasons:

  • exceeding twice the training time specified in the training and exit requirements calculated in active semesters
  • failing to reach the cumulated grade point average of
    • 2.25 in BSc or Integrated MSc training programs at the end of the fourth active semester after enrolment
    • 2.50 in MSc training programs at the end of the at the end of the second active semester after enrolment,
  • failing to obtain at least 20 credits in the last three active semesters (accredited credits are not deemed)
  • or failing to obtain at least 10 credits in the first three active semesters since enrollment in a re-admitted training program (accredited credits are not deemed)

The date of dismissal and the end date of the student status will be the last day of the exam period (03.07.2026).

Students under dismissal have 15 days after receiving the decision to submit the ’015 Appeal against dismissal for academic reasons’ Neptun request as a legal remedy. Only in justified cases can the Student Appeal Panel and the Faculty Study Committee grant a waiver of dismissal.

Dismissal upon request

If you wish to terminate your student status at BME, you can submit the ’032 Dismissal upon request’ form in Neptun at any time.

The end date of your student status will be the date on which you submitted the request. Please settle your financial debts towards the University before submitting a dismissal request.

You can request a Registry book excerpt of your completed subjects at BME via the ’027 Request for a certificate’ form in Neptun. No Registry book excerpt can be issued to students with a terminated legal status who have financial debts towards the University.

Please note, that your student status has to be continuous in time transferring to another BME training program or another Hungarian University, otherwise the transfer request can be rejected by the University. Because of this rule, please don’t request dismissal in your previous training program. The ASC will manage the closure of your previous training program.

TERMINATING SCHOLARSHIP STATUS (RECLASSIFICATION)

Termination of your scholarship status will not result in the termination of your student status. You will be automatically reclassified as a tuition fee-paying student.

If you reclassify as a fee-paying student, you must sign and submit 2 copies of the study contract by 03.09.2026 at the ASC, during opening hours; otherwise, your student status in the 2026 Fall semester will be set to passive. You can download the study contract from Neptun: Menu ➥ Administration ➥ General forms.

The tuition fee for fee-paying students will be inflicted once their active status has been set. The payment deadline is typically 15.10.2026. BME’s website provides details of the tuition fees.

You can request a tuition fee reduction only via the '010 Request for Tuition Fee Reduction' form in Neptun. Please refer to the dean's instructions for information on the criteria used to assess tuition fee reduction requests and the faculty's procedures. Failure to comply with the above information is the student's responsibility and cannot form the basis of an appeal or remedy.

Reasons for TERMINATING the SCHOLARSHIP STATUS

A student's scholarship status can be terminated because of the following reasons:

  1. based on the termination of the student status
  2. based on the termination of scholarship agreement
  3. based on the minimum credit requirement (III.3. 6-9 of the SH OR/IV.3. 7-9 of the HDS OR/III.11. 2. f) of the SCYP OR)
  4. based on the notification from Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency
  5. by transferring to another institution/training program.

The scholarship holder can appeal against the decision by submitting the „016 Appeal against reclassification decision” request in Neptun. The student has 15 days from the decision to submit the request. If the Faculty Study Committee supports the request, the University forwards it to the Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency for the final decision.

Transfer of your scholarship status will not result in the termination of your student status on your previous training program automatically. Further information will be provided later, following the final decision of the Tempus Public Foundation/Hungary Helps Agency. Please don’t request dismissal in your previous training program until that, as your student status must be continuous during the transfer procedure.

REGISTERING FOR THE 2026/27/1 semester

between 01.06.2026 and 03.09.2026

For students of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences: You can only register for an active semester in Neptun following the successful completion of the '700_BME GTK Work and Fire Safety Training' request in Neptun under Menu ➥ Administration ➥ Requests ➥ Request Fill forms. If you encounter any problems, please email iso@gtk.bme.hu.

Students can set their status to passive if the number of continuous passive semesters do not exceed the 2 semesters and the number of passive semesters on the training program do not exceed the permitted maximum number. The Faculty Study Committee can grant permission for an extension of the allowed number of passive semesters, but only in justified cases. This needs to be requested in Neptun via the '036B Request for increasing the allowed number of passive terms' form.

If a student fails to get permission for an increased number of passive semester or does not activate their 2026/27/1 semester and that would be the third continuous passive semester, their student status will be terminated.
